The Brattleboro Women's Chorus is a 401(c)(3) non-profit organization. We rely on singer fees, concert income, fundraisers and donations in order to meet our budgetary needs. Since singing in-person in a chorus is one of the "super spreader" activities of Covid-19, we won't be able to sing together for quite a while.
Our costs for ‘chorus online’ are not substantially less than chorus in person. Though we don’t have some expenses such as rehearsal and concert rentals, we do have extra expenses for technology, and we have to lower our income projections as well, with concerts, fundraisers and singer participation all so different in this new format.
The budget forecast we have created, which includes our important priority of continuing to pay our director, will require that we dip into our financial reserves this year in order to balance our books. We also expect the need for financial aid to be greater than years past. Donations go a long way towards our generous scholarship fund, which enables many singers to afford the tuition and keeps the chorus accessible to all who want to sing.
Your donation is completely tax-deductible and will be sincerely appreciated. You can make a donation online here with a check or credit card.
